Frequently asked questions

How should I prepare for a police or fire oral board?

Combine your agency’s current instructions with repeated spoken practice. Identify the competencies named in the notice, prepare specific examples, and rehearse answers that address every part of the question. Use STAR—Situation, Task, Action, Result—for past-experience questions. For hypothetical questions, make your priorities, information gathering, decision, communication, accountability, and follow-through visible. Revarta gives formative feedback on answer construction; it does not grade tactics, law, medicine, department policy, or jurisdiction-specific correctness and cannot predict an official score.

Does Revarta know my department’s official scoring rubric?

No. Revarta provides formative feedback on answer construction. It does not claim access to private questions, department rubrics, vendor materials, or official scoring standards. Always follow the instructions and published materials from your department or civil-service authority.

Can I practice without creating an account?

Yes. You can complete one voice or typed oral-board rep and receive formative feedback before signup. Creating a free account carries that exact feedback into your first signed-in screen so you can continue to the next question in the same track.

Does the feedback judge my accent or speaking style?

No. The public-safety rubric is limited to whether the answer is complete, structured, specific, and explains judgment and follow-through. It does not evaluate accent, dialect, vocal pitch, speech disability, or English fluency.

Does Revarta cover assessment-center exercises?

The current public-safety tracks support spoken oral-board responses. The answer-construction feedback can help you rehearse what you would say in a role-play or presentation, but Revarta does not currently simulate those exercises or score in-baskets, tactical scenarios, physical tests, or jurisdiction-specific technical knowledge.
