Refresh your knowledge of clinical standards, protocols, and best practices specific to the setting you're interviewing for (hospital unit, outpatient clinic, specialty practice, etc.). Review current evidence-based guidelines, infection control procedures, and safety protocols.

Research the facility's clinical services, patient population, and any specialty programs or certifications they hold. Understanding their clinical focus allows you to discuss how your management experience and clinical expertise align with their specific needs.

Develop specific stories demonstrating your ability to manage clinical staff effectively. Use the STAR method to structure examples of handling performance issues, resolving team conflicts, managing challenging scheduling situations, or implementing staff training programs.

Focus on outcomes: improvements in staff satisfaction, reductions in turnover, successful onboarding of new staff, or team performance enhancements. Clinical managers must demonstrate both clinical credibility and supervisory competence.

Be prepared to discuss clinical quality indicators relevant to your specialty area: infection rates, medication error rates, patient satisfaction scores, clinical outcome measures, or safety event tracking. Know how you've monitored and improved these metrics.
