Naming the workflow is the credential and the single biggest differentiator between extern-level and experienced-MA answers.

Outpatient clinic managers evaluate against five dimensions — none of them are "how much clinical theory do you know." Patient experience is first: can you make a nervous patient feel comfortable, can you handle an upset one without escalating, does your demeanor read warm and competent. Most clinics track Press Ganey or similar patient-experience scores, and the MA is the first touchpoint that shapes them. Throughput is second: can you room patients fast and accurately so the provider stays on schedule.
